Student Playwright Wraps up Theatre Boot Camp at O'Neill Theater Center
UMass Boston English and theatre arts major Rick Chason is finishing up his two weeks as a critic fellow at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Critics Institute. It's a boot camp for theatre writers. Chason earned this opportunity after receiving the Kennedy Center American Theatre College (KCACTF) Award to attend the National Critics Institute in Washington, DC this spring. To receive the award, students must be Massachusetts residents graduating from one of the 29 state universities and community colleges who plan to continue living and working in the state after graduation. Winners plan to pursue a career in a needed field in the commonwealth, work at a startup, or take on a community service role.
